The Budget implementation report highlights progress made in implementation of the MakueniCounty Government for the Financial Year 2019/20, ending 30th June 2020. The report captures thestatus and level of implementation of the budget by 31st December 2019. It also presents the keychallenges that faced budget implementation during the reporting period and appropriaterecommendations to overcome these challenges.The total budget for the year under review was revised to KSh. 10,790,611,149.12. The revisedbudget comprised of Kshs 6,123,483,833.76 for recurrent (57 Percent) and Kshs 4,667,127,315.36 fordevelopment (43 Per cent).The County Budget is funded from three main sources namely; shareable revenue from the NationalGovernment of Kshs. 7,254,000,000.00 (67 Per cent), FY 2018/19 reallocation funds amounting toKshs 1,636,208,781.12 (15 Per cent), own-source revenues Kshs 609,000,000.00 (6 Per cent) andconditional allocations and other grants Kshs 1,291,402,368.00 (12 Per cent).By end of second quarter for Financial Year 2019/20, the total equitable share revenue receiptsamounted to Kshs. 2,621,759,400.00 representing 36% per cent against the target of Kshs7,254,000,000.00. The County has also mobilized Kshs. 205,138,049.80 as own source revenuesagainst a target of Kshs. 609,000,000.00.The overall County expenditure for the period ending 31st December 2019 amounted to Ksh.3,394,562,670.14 translating to an overall absorption of 31 per cent. The performance is expected toimprove significantly in the remaining 6 months due to the ongoing enhancement if the performancecontracting systems and the introduction of the rapid result implementation mechanisms which willenhance implementation of development projects at the ward, sub-county and ward levels.
