Distinguished Guests, Ladies and GentlemenIt is a great honor for me to be with you today as wecommemorate World Malaria Day. On this Day in the year 2000,African Heads of States and Government meeting in Abuja, Nigeria,made a commitment to reduce and eventually eliminate malariafrom this continent.This gave rise to overwhelming response and commitment fromworld leaders who in 2007 committed to making malaria controland elimination a global priority. From then on, Africa Malaria Daybecame known as World Malaria Day.
